The New York Yankees continue to play bad baseball as they lost to the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday afternoon by the score of 5-2.  Alex Rodriguez struck out four times for the first time in his career, and other Yankees hitters had troubles as well.

Phil Hughes took the loss for the Yankees and is now 0-2 on the season.  Hughes only lasted three innings as he gave up six hits and three earned runs.  Ross Ohlendorf came in following Hughes and gave up another two earned runs.

Johnny Damon and Wilson Betemit recorded one RBI each for the Yankees.

Mike Mussina and Bobby Abreu dominated the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday night as the New York Yankees won 6-1 to move their record to 4-3.

Mussina pitched six inning to pick up his first win of the season.  Mussina only gave up two hits on the night and one earned run.  It was also nice to see Moose only give up one walk while striking out three batters.

Brian Bruney, Kyle Farnsworth, and LaTroy Hawkins all pitched one inning in relief and did not allow an earned run.  They all pitched great so overall it was a very well pitched game for the Yankees.

Abreu led the Yankees at the plate going 3-3 with one homerun and two RBI.  Hideki Matsui also had two RBI, while Robinson Cano and Alex Rodriguez chipped in with one RBI each.

The Yankees are now 4-3 on the season.

What in the hell is going on with the New York Yankees?  They have lost two straight games to the Tampa Bay Rays, and they really haven’t even been that close of games to be honest.  How long until some changes are made with the lineup?  How long before fans really start to get on the team and coaching staff?

On Saturday, Andy Pettitte got rocked pretty much all game long as the Rays hit him often, and hit him hard.  Pettitte took the lose for the Yankees and is 0-1 on the short season.

Atleast Alex Rodriguez hit a RBI double I guess.  That and Jorge Posada’s two RBI single in the 8th inning was about all the excitment the Yankees had.
