Joba Chamberlain has lost his first game in the Major Leagues.  The relief pitcher gave up a run in the bottom of the ninth inning when Joe Crede singled in the winning run as the White Sox beat the Yankees 7-6.

Phil Hughes pitched two innings and only allowed a hit as he started the game for the Yankees.  The rain delay affected Hughes not pitching longer and the Yankees went with Ross Ohlendorf for the next two innings which was a mistake.  Ohlendorf gave up five hits and five runs in only two innings of action.  LaTroy Hawkins also pitched two innings and gave up a earned run.  Talk about a bad pitching performance by the entire Yankees staff on Thursday night.

At the plate for the Yankees, Melky Cabrera hit a two run home run in the sixth inning to finish with two RBI.  Bobby Abreu also had two RBI in the game.  Derek Jeter and Morgan Ensberg contributed with one RBI each as well.

The Yankees’s record drops to 12-11 after the loss.

The New York Yankees were able to beat the Chicago White Sox 9-5 on Tueday night behind three home runs.  Jason Giambi, Bobby Abreu, and Johnny Damon all hit home runs for the Yankees.  The Yankees used seven runs in the seventh and eigth innings to blow the game wide open.

Abreu led the Yankees with four RBI as he hit a grand slam in the seventh inning.  Damon wasn’t too far behind Abreu as he finished with three RBI.  Hideki Matsui and Giambi both finished with one RBI each.

Chien-Ming Wang improved to 4-0 on the season as he pitched six innings to pick up the win.  Wang did allow 10 hits, but limited the White Sox to only three runs.  Billy Traber and Kyle Farnsworth both allowed one run out of the bullpen.

The New York Yankees fell to the Boston Red Sox 7-4 in a game where Mike Mussina was pulled after only pitching three innings.  Mussina clearly didn’t have his best stuff as he gave up seven hits and three earned runs in the first three innings of the game.

Jonathan Albaladejo pitched the next three innings and gave up two more earned runs only two innings.  The Yankees just didn’t have the pitching to win the game tonight.

Derek Jeter had two RBI and Bobby Abreu and had one RBI early in the game before the Yankees made it interesting in the ninth inning as they scored two runs.  Robinson Cano had a infield groundout to score a run and then Melky Cabrera hit a solo home run.

The New York Yankees are now one game above .500 after beating the Tampa Bay Rays by the score of 5-3 on Tuesday night.  Behind two RBI’s from Hideki Matsui and seven innings by starting pitcher Andy Pettitte, the Yankees controlled the game for the most part.

Matsui hit a solo home run to get the game started in the first inning, and then picked up another RBI in the fourth inning when he grounded out to first.  Derek Jeter and Bobby Abreu had one RBI each as well.

Pettite pitched seven innings and gave up nine hits but only three earned runs.  He struckout five batters and walked three.  Pettitte improved to 2-1 on the season with the victory.  Kyle Farnsworth pitched a scoreless eigth inning before Mariano Rivera picked up the save in the ninth inning.  It was Rivera’s fifth save of the season.

It was another nail biting win for the New York Yankees over the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday.  The Yankees had to get the go ahead run in the bottom of the 8th inning when Bobby Abreu singled in Melky Cabrera.

It would be nice to see the Yankees score more runs with the offense that they have.  These one run ball games will go to the other team sometimes, so the offense really needs to pick things up and not rely on the pitching staff so much.

Phil Hughes pitched six strong innings for the Yankees, and then it was lights out as Billy Traber, Brian Bruney, Joba Chamberlain, and Mariano Rivera held the Blue Jays down.

It was a good win for the Yankees who improved their record to 2-1.
