The New York Yankees were down 1-0 heading in the seventh inning but then then they scored two runs in the seventh and then two more in the eighth inning to beat the Chicago White Sox by the score of 5-1. It was a very good win for the Yankees as they beat the White Sox who are in the middle of a playoff run in the Central division.

Johnny Damon provided the big blast in the bottom of the eighth as he hit a two-run home run that provided some insurance runs for the Yankees. Alex Rodriguez also hit a solo home run in the eighth inning. In the seventh inning, Xavier Nady singled to score Rodriguez and then Nady scored on a wild pitcher for the go ahead run.

Phil Hughes got the start on the mound and he only lasted four innings. Huges only allowed four hits and one run before he was taken out of the game. Phil Coke tossed the next two innings of action before Brian Bruney, Joba Chamberlain, and Edwar Ramirez each pitched one inning each. Bruney ended up with the victory in the game.

The New York Yankees doubled up the Chicago White Sox by the score of 4-2 on Monday night as the two teams kicked off a four game series. The Yankees scored two runs in the second and and seventh innings as they went on for the victory.

Xavier Nady had the big hit for the Yankees in the second inning when he hit a two run blast off of Mark Buehrle of the White Sox. In the seventh inning, the Yankees got a rbi ground rule double by Wilson Betemit and then he scored on a Johnny Damon single.

On the mound, Alfredo Aceves got the start and tossed six innings of five hit baseball. Aceves did give up both runs that the White Sox scored when Dewayne Wise took him deep for a two-run home run in the fourth inning. Phil Coke, Joba Chamberlain, Mariano Rivera and all tossed one inning each in relief to hold of the sox. It was Rivera’s 36th save of the year.

Good win for the Yankees as they kicked off the series exactly like they wanted to do. Yankees Blog

The Los Angeles Angels but a whooping on the New York Yankees Monday night by the score of 12-1. The Angels used a big sixth inning where they scored six runs to really break the game wide open. There was also a little fight between Pudge Rodriguez and Torii Hunter that caused the benches to clear in the sixth inning. Hunter bumped into Pudge and Pudge pushed him and Hunter went back at Pudge. Wasn’t a full out brawl but sure did nothing for the Yankees in the end.

Carl Pavano dropped to 2-1 on the year as he took the loss for the Yankees. Pavano gave up five runs on six hits in just 5 1/3 innings. Dan Giese and Edwar Ramirez both allowed three runs to score each before Chris Britton allowed one more in the eighth inning. All the Yankees pitchers struggled against the high powered Angels lineup.

Alex Rodriguez had the one rbi for the Yankees. A-rod singled in the first inning to score Johnny Damon. That was all the offense for the Yankees and it was just a terrible game.

It was a little bit of revenge for the New York Yankees on Wednesday night as they beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-1. A night after losing 2-1, the Yankees made sure that wasn’t going to happen as they really didn’t have any problems with the Jays on Wednesday night.

Yankees starting pitcher Andy Pettitte improved to 13-9 as he pitched seven innings and only allowed five hits and one run. Pettitte was on top of his game as he did not walk a batter and struckout four. Brian Bruney pitched the final two innings and held the Blue Jays hitless.

At the plate it was two runs in the first inning and then three runs in the fourth inning. In the first, Jason Giambi had a rbi sac fly and then Xavier Nady hit a rbi single. In the fourth, Johnny Damon grounded out but got a rbi and then Yankee captain Derek Jeter connected on a two run home run to put the team up by five runs.

Great win for the Yankees! Yankees Baseball Blog

Finally the New York Yankees were able to end their losing streak!  The Yankees pounded out a 13-3 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday afternoon to break their three game losing streak.  With the win, they were able to avoid the embarrassing three game sweep.

Bobby Abreu hit two home runs and Alex Rodriguez connected for one as well.  It was great to see the Yankees score 13 runs and pretty much dominate the entire game.  Abreu finished the game with three rbi while A-Rod and Xavier Nady both had two rbi.  Johnny Damon, Justin Christian, and Jason Giambi all finished with one rbi.

Joba Chamberlain earned the win and is now 4-3 on the year.  Joba tossed six innings while allowing five hits and two runs.  He struck out six batters while walking none so he did have good control of his pitches.

David Robertson was charged with one run in the eighth inning.  Dan Giese pitched the ninth inning to finish up the game.

I will be out of town until Aug 11th for a conference so I will not be able to do any game recaps on the blog until I get back on the 12th.  If there is anyone out there that would like to blog some game recaps and let their opinion about the Yankees be heard, email us and we can talk and possibly get you setup!

The New York Yankees didn’t have any problems with the Minnesota Twins on Monday night as they opened up their weekday series with a 12-4 victory.  The Yankees had 16 hits to score those 12 runs as the offense was really swinging the bats well while the pitchers pitched well enough to get the victory.

Alex Rodriguez hit a two run home run while Robinson Cano and Derek Jeter both added solo shots for the Yankees.  A-Rod finished the game leading the team with three rbi.  Cano and Jeter both had two rbi each while Johnny Damon and Bobby Abreu both chipped in with one each.  That is a big balanced scoring attack for the Yankees as almost everybody contributed.

Sidney Ponson improved to 6-1 on the season as he threw 5 2/3 innings to get the win.  Ponson gave up nine hits and three runs while walking and striking out two batters.  Edwar Ramirez, David Robertson, and LaTroy Hawkins all threw out of the bullpen.  Hawkins threw the final two innings of the game while only allowing one hit.

It was a very good win for the Yankees and they will now hope to go up 2-0 in the series when they face off againast the Twins on Tuesday evening.  Yankees Blog

The New York Yankees scored nine runs in the seventh inning as they beat the Texas Rangers by the score of 18-7.  It was a very high scoring game between the two teams but the Yankees were able to come out on top to avoid the sweep.

Jason Giambi had a grand slam and two run double to finish the game with six rbi’s to lead the Yankees at the plate.  Alex Rodriguez had a three run home run as he finished the game with three rbi.  Jorge Posada was right behind A-rod as he had two rbi.  Johnny Damon and two rbi, Robinson Cano, and WIlson Betemit, and Bobby Abreu all contributed with one rbi of their own.

Sidney Ponson struggled in his first start with the Yankees.  He only lasted five innings and gave up nine hits and seven early runs.  The Rangers hit two home runs off of Ponson who will really need to turn things around if he wants to stay in the rotation.

Edwar Ramirez pitched the sixth and seventh innings without giving up a run and then Kyle Farnsworth pitched a scoreless eighth inning for the Yankees.  LaTroy Hawkins pitched the ninth inning for the Yankees as he finished off the Rangers.

The Yankees will now play the Red Sox for four games this weekend.  The series is always a huge one between the fans I expect this one to be the same way.

The New York Yankees played a better game on Wednesday than they did on Tuesday and they came away with a 5-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.  Everyone in the Yankees lineup had atleast one hit except the Bobby Abreu on the night as they had a lot of production up and down the lineup.

Wilson Betemit had a solo home run in the game while Johnny Damon, Derek Jeter, Hideki Matsui, and Melky Cabrera all helped out with an rbi of their own.  Good job by the Yankees offense putting the baseball in play and making things happen.

Mike Mussina picked up the win for the Yankees as he tossed six innings and gave up five hits and one run.  Mussina was able to improve his record to 9-4 on the season and lower his era to 4.01.

Ross Ohlendorf, Kyle Farnsworth, and Mariano Rivera all tossed one scoreless inning in relief of Mussina.  Rivera threw the ninth inning even though it wasn’t a save situation.

Relief pitcher Kyle Farnsworth gave up a rbi double to Delmon Young in the eighth inning that broke a 4-4 tie and the Minnesota Twins went on to beat the New York Yankees by the score of 5-4.  Yankees fans that I talked to right after the game were very pissed off at Farnsworth.

Farnsworth is now 0-2 on the season after he took the loss in the game.  Starting Yankees pitcher Andy Pettitte threw seven innings and gave up ten hits and five runs.  Pettitte just didn’t have enough to go any further in the game and the Yankees had to call on Farnsworth.  Usually that would have been Joba Chamberlain in the game, but now with Joba in the starting rotation, the Yankees need to find a relief pitcher to get the ball to Mariano Rivera in the ninth inning.

Alex Rodriguez led the Yankees at the plate as he hit his eighth home run of the season and had two rbi in the game.  Johnny Damon, Jason Giambi, and Melky Cabrera all had one rbi in the game as well.  The offense didn’t have good production as they left 25 runners on base in the game.

The New York Yankees escaped a sweep by beating the Baltimore Orioles by the score of 4-1 on Wednesday night.  The Yankees really needed to pick up this win as they try to get on a nice run and go on a nice winning streak.

Andy Pettitte picked up the win as he tossed 6 2/3 innings.  Pettitte allowed eight hits but only two runs in his six plus innings of action.  Pettitte is now 5-5 on the season.  Joba Chamberlain came in and pitched 1 1/3 innings of relief and only gave up one hit.  Mariano Rivera then came in to pick up his 13th save of the season in the ninth inning.

Jason Giambi hit his 11th home run of the season in the fourth inning as he finished the game with two rbi.  Giambi also had a rbi single in the second inning.  Derek Jeter had a sac fly in the fifth inning and Johnny Damon had a infield rbi single that scored Hideki Matsui in the ninth inning.

Good win for the Yankees, let’s see if they can get some momentum and go on a nice winning streak now.

***Ian Kennedy has been placed on the disabled list so we could see Joba make his first start next week in Kennedy’s rotation spot.***
