Once again the New York Yankees hammered the Minnesota Twins as they won Tuesday evening by the score of 8-2.  Great offense output and great pitching equaled another win for the Yankees as they try to get back up on top of the East division standing.

David Robertson improved to 2-0 on the year as he recorded one out to pick up the win.  Yeah one out and Robertson got the win lol.  Starting pitcher Darrell Rasner was taken out of the game after pitching 5 2/3 innings and giving up four hits and two runs.  Ranser ended up with the no decision as the offense didn’t kick in until he left the game.

Jose Veras, Kyle Farnsworth, and Dan Giese all pitched on inning of relief without allowing a run to score.  That is exactly how you want to see your bullpen throw the ball.

Bobby Abreu led the team with three rbi including a two run home run.  Derek Jeter and Robinson Cano both finished with two rbi while Jason Giambi contributed with one rbi.  Balanced scoring once again by the Yankees offense who are swinging the bats very good right now.

The Yankees will be going for the three game sweep on Wednesday.  I like their chances do you?

The New York Yankees lost a make up road game to the Pittsburgh Pirates by the score of 4-2 on Thursday night.  The Yankees could only muster two runs in the seventh inning in the game as they struggled to get the big hit in the game that they are accustomed to getting.

Both of the Yankees runs came off the bat of Bobby Abreu who had a two run single in the seventh that scored Justin Christian and Wilson Betemit.

Mike Mussina tossed the first six innings while allowing nine hits and two runs in the game.  Moose did a pretty good job however he took home the no decision.  Jose Veras took the loss for the Yankees as he gave up two runs in the seventh inning.

The Yankees will now board another plane and head to Toronto where they will play their final series of the first half against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Mariano Rivera gave up a rbi single in the top of the ninth inning to Michael Young as the New York Yankees lost to the Texas Rangers by the score of 3-2.  It was a dissapointing loss for the Yankees as they just couldn’t get anything going in the game and looked very frustrated at the plate.  The Yankees will now have to win on Wednesday to avoid the three game sweep by the Rangers.

Yankees starting pitcher Joba Chamberlain struggled as he only lasted four innings.  Chamberlain gave up five hits and two runs in the game as he got a no decision.  Joba walked four batters while striking out six in his four innings of action.  Dan Giese, David Robertson, and Jose Veras all seen action before Rivera blew the game in the ninth inning.

Robinson Cano and Wilson Betemit both had rbi singles for the Yankees.  The Yankees just couldn’t get a good rally going to score any runs in the game.  It was a very frustrating game to watch and it had to have been very frustrating to be a Yankees player or coach in the game.

I do like the Yankees chances to avoid the sweep on Wednesday however.  What do you think?

The New York Yankees lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates 12-5 on Tuesday night but they bounced back nicely with a 10-0 victory on Wednesday night to event he interleague series at 1-1.  The Yankees had pressure on the Pirates all game long as they scored in five of nine innings.

Bobby Abreu had a three run home run and then a rbi double to lead the Yankees at the plate with four rbi.  Jason Giambi had two rbi while Derek Jeter and Robinson Cano both had one rbi.  Cano’s rbi came via the long ball when he went deep in the fifth inning of the game.  Melky Cabrera tacked on another run in the ninth inning with a rbi single.

Joba Chamberlain improved to 2-2 on the season as he pitched a good ball game.  Chamberlain tossed 6 2/3 innings while giving up six hits.  Joba walked one batter and struck out seven others in the game.  Great outing for Chamberlain as he continues to get stretched out in the starters role.

Ross Ohlendorf recorded the last out in the seventh inning and then tossed a scoreless inning in the eighth inning.  Jose Veras gave up two runs in the ninth inning but did not let the Pirates score and kept the shut out in tact.

Good win for the Yankees as they dominated the Pirates pitching staff.  That is how you bounce back from a butt kicking like the Yankees took on Tuesday night!

Talk about a dramatic scene at Yankees Stadium as Jason Giambi was called upon in the ninth inning to pitch hit and hit a game winning two run home run.  Giambi’s home run barely stayed in play as he it into the upper deck to the right field line to give teh Yankees the 9-8 victory over the Blue Jays.

Giambi wasn’t the only Yankees player to hit a long ball as Wilson Betemit had a two run shot in the sixth inning as well.  Besides Giambi and Betemit’s two rbi each, Bobby Abreu and Alex Rodriguez also had two rbi each.  Hideki Matsui finished things up with one rbi on the game.

Kyle Farnsworth was credited with the win as he pitched the top of the ninth inning.  Farnsy is is now 1-2 on the season.  He didn’t even pitch that well in the ninth inning as he gave up three hits and one run.

Starting pitcher Chien-Ming Wang only lasted 4 1/3 innings as he was pulled after giving up five hits and seven runs.  Wang was pretty wild as he also had four walks and gave up one home run.  Ross Ohlendorf, LaTroy Hawkins, and Jose Veras all pitched before Farnsworth pitched the ninth.

The Yankees will now start a series with the Kansas City Royals this weekend that I can seem the sweeping.

It was supposed to be a big nice the for the New York Yankees and starting pitcher Joba Chamberlain but Chamberlain only lasted 2 1/3 innings and the Yankees lost 9-4 to the Toronto Blue Jays.  Chamberlain was pulled early due to his pitch count.  He had a tough first outing as he walked four batters and struck out three.

However it was the Yankees bullpen who really blew this game.  Dan Giese gave up one run, Jose Veras gave up two runs, and Edwar Ramirez gave up four runs.  The bullpen blew the game wide open for the Blue Jays and pretty much gave the offense no shot at coming back.

Bobby Abreu, Hideki Matsui, and Jason Giambi all had one rbi in the game for the Yankees.  I really think the offense would have came around had the bullpen kept them in the game.  Sometimes you just get all the momentum taken away when your bullpen gives up that many runs.  The Yankees did score in the ninth inning when Jonny Damon scored on a wild pitch.

The New York Yankess came back to beat the Baltimore Orioles by the score of 2-1 on Thursday night.  Robinson Cano singled in Hideki Matsui for the game winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Shelley Duncan was the other Yankees player to record an rbi as he had a sacrafice fly in the fourth inning that scored Matsui.  Goodjob by Matsui for getting on base and scoring both runs in the game.

Mariano Rivera ended up getting the win as he pitched the ninth inning.  Rivera is now 1-1 on the season.  Ian Kennedy started the game and pitched his best game of the year even though he got the no decision.  Kennedy tossed six innings while only giving up four hits and one run.

Jose Veras and Kyle Farnsworth both pitched one inning each and did not allow a run.  Good job by them as they gave the Yankees the chance to win the game along with Rivera.

The New York Yankees were hammered by the Baltimore Orioles by the score of 12-2 on Tuesday night. I really don’t have a whole lot to blog about because the Yankees pretty much got their butt handed to them.

Mike Mussina only lasted 2/3 of an inning as he got rocked.  Mussina gave up five hits and seven runs to take the loss.  Ross Ohlendorf gave up another three runs over the next three innings.  Jose Veras also gave up a run as he pitched in relief.

The two Yankees runs came in the sixth inning when Alex Rodriguez hit a two run home run.  It was A-Rod’s 13th home run of the season.

The New York Yankees are in a unfamiliar place after they lost to the Tampa Bay Rays by the score of 5-2 on Thursday afternoon.  The Yankees are now in last place in the divsion, and they better start making some changes before management makes those changes for them.

Ian Kennedy dropped to 0-3 on the season as he took the loss.  Kennedy tossed five innings and gave up five hits and five runs.  Two home runs accounted for three of the five runs as Kennedy’s era now stands at 8.48 on the year.

LaTroy Hawkins, Jose Veras, and Edwar Ramirez all pitched one scoreless inning in relief of Kennedy.

The Yankees scoring came in the seventh inning when Derek Jeter and Melky Cabrera both had rbi singles.

The Yankees pretty much just sucked it up all series long against the Rays.  Did they try taking the series easy?  Who know but they better start playing better.

The New York Yankees ran into a red hot Tampa Bay Rays team on Monday night as they lost 7-1.  The Rays have now won five straight games and the Yankees could have trouble with them the next three games of the series if they don’t make some adjustments.

The Yankees only had six hits and one run in the game tonight.  The only run came in the eighth inning when Johnny Damon grounded out to first base and Jose Molina scored from third base.

Andy Pettite pitched terrible as he gave up eight hits and five runs in the game while only pitching four innings.  Pettitte is now 3-3 on the season as he took the loss.

Chris Britton and Jose Veras both gave up one run as well in relief.

All around it was just a bad game for the Yankees.  They will look to turn things around tomorrow agains the Rays.  Yankees Blog
