It was another nail biting win for the New York Yankees over the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday.  The Yankees had to get the go ahead run in the bottom of the 8th inning when Bobby Abreu singled in Melky Cabrera.

It would be nice to see the Yankees score more runs with the offense that they have.  These one run ball games will go to the other team sometimes, so the offense really needs to pick things up and not rely on the pitching staff so much.

Phil Hughes pitched six strong innings for the Yankees, and then it was lights out as Billy Traber, Brian Bruney, Joba Chamberlain, and Mariano Rivera held the Blue Jays down.

It was a good win for the Yankees who improved their record to 2-1.

Once again, Hank Steinbrenner has pulled his offer off the table as the Yankees tried to trade for Johan Santana of the Minnesota Twins.  It has been believed that the Yankees offer was starting pitcher Philip Hughes, outfielder Melky Cabrera, and then one or two other minor league players.

At this time, I’m not aware of the other players that the Twins were wanting in the deal.  Steinbrenner mentioned that the Yankees are not desperate to make a move, so they aren’t going to include players in a deal that they really don’t want too.

So now the question is this?  Do the Yankees start looking at Joe Blanton?  Blanton has yet to be traded, and could really help out the Yankees rotation in 2008.
