Relief pitcher Joba Chamberlain gave up a three run home run to David Dellucci in the eighth inning as the Yankees lost to the Indians by the score of 5-3 on Tuesday night.  Chamberlain who is usually lights out is now 1-2 on the season.

Yankees starting pitcher Andy Pettitte pitched 6 1/3 innings as he gave up five hits and two runs.  Pettitte pitched well enough to win the game and probably should have if Chamberlain wouldn’t have had bad control and gave up the three run home run.

Jason Giambi had two RBI at the plate for the Yankees and Robinson Cano had one RBI in the game.

With the loss, the Yankees record dropped to the .500 mark at 17-17 on the season.

Yankees starting pitcher Phil Hughes was once again hammered as he took the mound for the Yankees on Tuesday night.  This time it was the Detroit Tigers who did the hammering as the put up six runs on Hughes in only 3.2 innings.

Besides Hughes sucking, the Yankees bullpen pitched pretty good and atleast gave the offense a chance at coming back and winning the game.  Give the bullpen credit for that atleast.

Robinson Cano hit a two run home run in the second inning, but it wasn’t until the eighth inning when the Yankees scored another run.  In the eighth inning, Derek Jeter was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.  Of course, the Yankees didn’t score another run after Jeter was hit.  In the ninth inning, Jason Giambi had a RBI single that scored Hideki Matsui.

The New York Yankees fell to the Boston Red Sox 7-4 in a game where Mike Mussina was pulled after only pitching three innings.  Mussina clearly didn’t have his best stuff as he gave up seven hits and three earned runs in the first three innings of the game.

Jonathan Albaladejo pitched the next three innings and gave up two more earned runs only two innings.  The Yankees just didn’t have the pitching to win the game tonight.

Derek Jeter had two RBI and Bobby Abreu and had one RBI early in the game before the Yankees made it interesting in the ninth inning as they scored two runs.  Robinson Cano had a infield groundout to score a run and then Melky Cabrera hit a solo home run.

Alex Rodriguez hit his 521st career home run and Robinson Cano later hit the game winning home run for the New York Yankees as they went onto beat the Tampa Bay Rays by the score of 8-7.  A-Rod’s home run tied him on the all time list with Ted Williams and Willie McCovey.

Besides Rodriguez’s and Cano’s home runs, Johnny Damon and Morgan Ensberg also went deep.  Damon led the Yankees with three RBI’s, Derek Jeter had two RBI, while Rodriguez, Cano, and Ensberg all finished with one RBI.

Brian Bruney pitched in relief and picked up the win while Mariano Rivera picked up the save which was his fourth of the season.  Starting pitcher Ian Kennedy did pitch six innings giving up eight hits and three earned runs.  Kennedy had a pretty good performance, a lot better then his previous game.

Mike Mussina and Bobby Abreu dominated the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday night as the New York Yankees won 6-1 to move their record to 4-3.

Mussina pitched six inning to pick up his first win of the season.  Mussina only gave up two hits on the night and one earned run.  It was also nice to see Moose only give up one walk while striking out three batters.

Brian Bruney, Kyle Farnsworth, and LaTroy Hawkins all pitched one inning in relief and did not allow an earned run.  They all pitched great so overall it was a very well pitched game for the Yankees.

Abreu led the Yankees at the plate going 3-3 with one homerun and two RBI.  Hideki Matsui also had two RBI, while Robinson Cano and Alex Rodriguez chipped in with one RBI each.

The Yankees are now 4-3 on the season.
